In this podcast, we’ll discuss some of the evidence-based design strategies and features that support public health and well-being.
Scott C. Brown, PhD, is a research assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and project director of a study on how the built environment affects Hispanic elders’ health. He has also collaborated on related studies of children’s conduct and Hispanic immigrants’ risk for metabolic syndrome and has examined the built environment in relation to mental health, physical functioning, obesity, drug abuse, and HIV risk.
Joanna Lombard, AIA, is an architect and a professor in both the School of Architecture and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health who is also part of the research team investigating the impact of the built environment on Hispanic elders’ health, children’s conduct, and immigrants’ risk for metabolic syndrome. Her published work includes co-authorship of three books about how the built environment affects health.
