National Allied Individual Membership

Become a member of the American Institute of Architects

Are you a designer, artist, engineer, or contractor? Are you working in a field that is related to architecture? National individual allied membership is designed for those individuals who do not qualify as AIA or Assoc. AIA members, but are employed outside the architecture practice and are involved in positions allied to the field of architecture.

National Membership
The AIA is a three-tiered organization. The national allied membership does not include membership at the state and local levels.

If you are interested in networking locally, contact your local chapter to learn about their local allied membership.

Member Benefits

National allied members share in all Institute resources, programs, services, and activities, establishing relationships with architects that go beyond sales and specifications.

AIA Contract Documents, the most widely accepted standard form documents in the industry, prepared by the AIA in collaboration with owners, contractors, attorneys, architects, and engineers, to help you conduct construction-based business efficiently and effectively. Members receive a discount of up to 30 percent when purchasing AIA Contract Documents software

Subscriptions to AIArchitect, the AIA bi-weekly electronic newsletter covering news, tips and trends; and ARCHITECT, the official print magazine of the AIA; as well as the option to download digital editions of residential architect, EcoHome, and ECO-STRUCTURE.

AIA Knowledge Communities, 25 unique groups that enable you to customize your membership and network with like-minded colleagues who share your specific interests

AIA KnowledgeNet, the member-driven social networking site that gives you access to thousands of AIA members and their collective; it is a space to share best practices and case studies, conduct discussion threads, and meet other design professionals

Events, activities, knowledge, and networking opportunities through national conferences—whether at the AIA 2012 National Convention and Design Exposition or one of many produced by AIA Knowledge Communities. Develop key business contacts with industry professionals in attendance at these events.

AIA Advantage and exclusive discounts on products and services such as shipping, credit cards, technology, and more. All of the services you need to keep your business running more efficiently. Keep current with savings on professional resource materials at the AIA Store.

The Octagon
National allied members of the AIA also become Friends Society members of the Octagon. The Octagon is the oldest museum in the United States that is devoted to architecture and design.  As a Friends Society member, you support the stewardship of the building, the exhibition program, the collections, and public programming.
