Architecture Week 2008

It is an exciting time to be an AIA architect. As we kick off Architecture Week 2008, we encourage you to join us in celebrating our past, engaging our public, and leading the field with a new generation of architecture committed to innovation, design, and sustainability. We’ve planned an exciting evening that will spotlight our outreach and introduce new professional programs.

On April 8, 2008, rub elbows with AIA leaders at an AIA-hosted party to celebrate the achievements of the America’s Favorite Architecture campaign; launch the new architectural print retrospective, Architecture: Celebrating the Past, Designing the Future; and unveil the Blueprint for America Mosaic and the Shape of America interactive initiatives. Enjoy food and drink while networking with architects and architecture enthusiasts alike.  The reception is from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Architecture Week 2008 will embrace a 360-degree view of the field with three new initiatives:

  • Shape of America
Help shape the public’s perception of the architecture world. Developed from the successes of the America’s Favorite Architecture campaign, Shape of America offers a retrospective look at some of the most intriguing structures in the world with a glimpse at the value they add to the surrounding communities. It’s all made possible by dialogue from you!
  • Blueprint for America Mosaic
It’s time to make an even deeper impact on the communities in which we live. The interactive Blueprint for America Mosaic is an AIA database that serves as a guide to key issues like sustainability and transportation; it is based on more than 30 major design projects. Pitch in and share your favorite project and experiences.
  • AIA 150-Year Anniversary Book
The AIA is taking a look back at 150 years of architectural excellence with the release of Architecture: Celebrating the Past, Designing the Future. Take a look at where we’ve been and determine where we’re going.

Throughout Architecture Week, the AIA will also spotlight the AIA’s cornerstone AIA150 program, Blueprint for America, exhibits from different local and state components which celebrate the ways architects and local citizens are working together to create safe and healthy communities all across the nation. This special exhibit will be set up during office hours in the lobby of AIA headquarters.

Celebrate with us the rich successes achieved by the AIA150 campaign, engage with your colleagues, and help lead architecture into the next generation.
