Finding Design Opportunities with the Federal Government
If you are interested in performing design work for the federal
government, your search for opportunities begins at FedBizOpps.gov. FedBizOpps is the single
government point-of-entry for federal government procurement
opportunities over $25,000. Government agencies can publicize their
business opportunities by posting directly to FedBizOpps, and
commercial vendors seeking federal markets can search, monitor, and
retrieve opportunities solicited by the entire federal contracting
community.
FedBizOpps provides answers to frequently asked questions, allows
vendors to sign up for the vendor notification service, and links
vendors to the latest procurement news and related sites.
To find contracting opportunities, click here or click on Advanced
Search on the left side of the FedBizOpps home page.

The search page allows you to search for jobs by:
- Keywords
- Contract number or type
- Contract dates
- Geographic location
- Set-aside code (such as 8(a) small business set-asides)
- Procurement Classification or NAICS Code
- Federal Agency

Procurement Classification Codes, or Federal Supply Codes,
categorize goods and services that the federal government procures.
Services are designated by letters. Key codes for the A/E industry
include:
C Architect and Engineering Services
Construction
Y Construction of Structures and Facilities
Z Maintenance, Repair or Alteration of Real Property
NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) Codes
classify professions, first by a general three-digit code and then
more specific multi-digit codes. Generally, architectural services
fall under 541, Professional, Scientific and Technical
Services, and specifically under 5413, Architectural,
Engineering, and Related Services.
