DOE Releases Final Determination on 2012 IECC By Stephanie Spear, Manager, Codes Advocacy |
On May 17, 2012, DOE issued a final determination that the 2012 IECC would achieve greater energy efficiency in low-rise residential buildings than the previous editions of the IECC. States are now required to file certification statements to DOE that they have reviewed the provisions of their residential building code regarding energy efficiency and made a determination as to whether to update their code to meet or exceed the 2012 IECC. The Federal Register Notice provides guidance to states on how the codes have changed from previous versions, and the certification process. To read the full notice, please click here. |
