We Need Your Help to Improve the Legislator Relationship Survey Results

Last week the AIA initiated its first ever Legislator Relationship survey in order to gauge the degree of political connectivity among the membership. Thus far, only 300 of the AIA’s 72,000 members have taken the survey, which equates to a response rate of 0.4%. We need you to help us improve the response rate today!

Member participation in the political and lawmaking processes is critical to preserving and advancing laws that are crucial to the public’s health, safety, and welfare and to the profession of architecture. The AIA Government and Community Relations department is making the development of a stronger state-level advocacy operation an ongoing focus. In order to improve state-level advocacy operations, the Institute must identify more members willing to take on an active role in public affairs by working together with state components.

Strong member participation will give state components the legislative influence they need to affect positive change in policy governing the profession and the built environment. This includes preventing unqualified groups from encroaching on the practice of architecture, preserving qualifications-based selection, and improving business opportunities for architects.
