AIA Government & Community Relations News: Week of June 25, 2012

NIBS to Hold Meeting on Commissioning
By Stephanie Spear, Manager, Codes Advocacy

The National Institute of Building Sciences, NIBS, is holding a meeting this week with other shareholders to discuss accreditation criteria for building commissioning agencies. This comes as a parallel effort to the International Code Council (ICC) finalizing a Commissioning Guideline to accompany provisions in the International Green Construction Code (IgCC).

The Institute intends to be represented at the upcoming International Accreditation Service (IAS) Hearing where they will be discussing this effort. We also will be developing written comments and are looking for feedback (and potential joint submissions) from the commissioning community.

Comments can be sent to Ryan Colker, Director of the Consultative Council/Presidential Advisor of NIBS at rcolker@nibs.org.
