ArchiPAC Supports 32 House and 8 Senate Candidates in 2012 |
ArchiPAC has supported 32 House and 8 Senate candidates during the 2012 election. Providing campaigns financial support is important in elevating AIA’s voice on Capitol Hill. Contributing to candidates demonstrates AIA’s seriousness about the issues affecting architects and makes a strong political statement about our position. Since campaigns cannot accept corporate dollars, ArchiPAC was established to raise personal funds from AIA members so that it could support candidates for elected office that are supportive of the profession. Candidates receiving donations from ArchiPAC are appreciative because they understand the time and personal resources it takes to make a donation possible. ArchiPAC has raised $88,000 and has 866 contributors. So far ArchiPAC has contributed $82,500 to House and Senate candidates. Of that, 45% went toward republicans and 55% to democrats. The ArchiPAC Steering Committee is responsible for making the final decision on candidate support but works collaboratively with the AIA Government Relations staff, state components, and ArchiPAC contributors for recommendations.
