What is the AIA Codes and Standards Committee?

By Stephanie Spear, Manager, Building Codes Policy

The AIA Codes and Standards Committee is a board-level committee that helps guide the AIA’s agenda in the codes and standards arena. Like most committees, the C+S committee meets via conference call once a month and in-person once a year. The committee handles issues such as code change proposals, developing codes education, and setting up the Codes Network. In 2013 the committee has five areas of focus: codes education; the Codes Network; permit streamlining; accessibility; and sustainability and building sciences. Please keep an eye on throughout the year to see the results of the committee’s work. Thank you to all the members of the AIA Codes and Standards Committee for their time and energy!
