What is the AIA Codes and Standards Committee?
By Stephanie Spear, Manager, Building Codes Policy
The AIA Codes and Standards Committee is a board-level committee that helps guide the AIA’s agenda in the codes and standards arena. Like most committees, the C+S committee meets via conference call once a month and in-person once a year. The committee handles issues such as code change proposals, developing codes education, and setting up the Codes Network. In 2013 the committee has five areas of focus: codes education; the Codes Network; permit streamlining; accessibility; and sustainability and building sciences. Please keep an eye on www.aia.org/codesadvocacy throughout the year to see the results of the committee’s work. Thank you to all the members of the AIA Codes and Standards Committee for their time and energy!
