Codes Resources for AIA Members
By Stephanie Spear, Manager, Building Codes Policy
Codes are definitely a tricky subject and chances are good that whatever issue you’re dealing with has already been dealt with by another AIA member. There are several networking and knowledge-sharing resources available to AIA members that focus on codes issues.
• Codes Advocacy Web Page - Check out www.aia.org/codesadvocacy for all sorts of resources dedicated to codes and standards. There is a clickable map where you can see what states are using what codes; links to other codes and standards organizations; and links to educational resources. You can read more about AIA’s position and policy statements and about the code development process.
• AIA Codes Network – The Codes and Standards Network is an effort that engages members throughout our states and components on codes-related issues and activities.
• AIA Codes and Standards LinkedIn group - Use your LinkedIn profile to communicate with other members of this group.
• AIA Codes and Standards KnowledgeNet - KnowledgeNet is a members-only message board service hosted via www.aia.org. Make sure you are logged in and join the Codes and Standards Knowledge Community to get involved.
