Western Mountain and Northwest and Pacific Regions’ Challenge Breaks Record

By Wendy Perez Young, Manager, Political Action Committee & Compliance

Last week during the WMR and NWPR Joint Regional Conference in Tucson, AZ the Western Mountain Region claimed victory against the Northwest and Pacific Region in an ArchiPAC fundraising competition known as the “Race to the Finish Line”. Both regions were neck n’ neck during the course of competition, but Western Mountain came out ahead at the end raising $3,175, with the Northwest and Pacific Region in second raising $1,744. The competition was a major successes raising nearly $5,000 for ArchiPAC and putting the PAC annual total over $126,000, thus, breaking its previous fundraising record!

The challenge, which lasted seven days, was closely monitored on Twitter and included a late night appreciation reception on October 11th for participants. Approximately 65 individuals from the Western Mountain Region and Northwest and Pacific Region contributed toward ArchiPAC during the competition. It took many volunteers to make this fundraising drive possible. ArchiPAC would like to thank the following individuals for the support provided in this joint effort: Jered Minter, AIA, Stuart Coppedge, AIA, Ed Vance, AIA, Greg Kessler, AIA, Bill Seider, AIA , Patrick Panetta, AIA, and Tina Litteral, Hon. AIA, CAE.

ArchiPAC is the only federal political action committee of the American Institute of Architects. Since ArchiPAC is prohibited from using membership dues or corporate money to support candidates, it relies on voluntary personal donations from the AIA membership. All funds raised goes toward helping to elect candidates that are supportive of AIA’s legislative agenda and will consider our viewpoint before casting a vote.
