Regions Battle to Reach Fundraising Goals by Grassroots
By Wendy Perez Young, Manager, Political Action Committee & Compliance
With the AIA Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference a month and a half away, members within the Central States and Ohio Valley Regions have made it a top priority to reach their fundraising goals before heading to Washington, DC.
Near the end of last year both regions reached their fundraising goals of $10,000, along with the New Jersey and South Atlantic Regions. So far this year with the help of Bruce Sekanick, AIA, Mike Schuster, FAIA and other volunteers, Ohio Valley is momentarily ahead of all the regions, raising 22 percent of its $10,000 goal. In the Central States Region, Regional Directors Wendy Ornelas, FAIA, and Lanny McIntosh, AIA, are actively reaching out to members by email and mail to encourage early involvement. ArchiPAC would like to give a special thanks to its volunteers for their time and dedication toward this important effort.
Every year the ArchiPAC Steering Committee establishes goals for each region. Click here to view the goals for 2013 and where your region ranks in its fundraising efforts. This year the steering committee agreed on an annual fundraising goal for ArchiPAC of $201,300; so far ArchiPAC has raised $8,522.
ArchiPAC is the political action committee of the American Institute of Architects. Since PACs are prohibited from using corporate dollars to directly support political campaigns, every dollar raised for ArchiPAC is from voluntary personal donations of AIA members. Through ArchiPAC, AIA members and staff are able to attend campaign events and support candidates who will consider AIA’s viewpoint on key issues.
