India Trade Mission Information Session Scheduled for Chicago

The AIA is working to help architects capitalize on opportunities in new and thriving markets. In an effort to provide you with information needed to expand your work abroad, the AIA and AIA Chicago are hosting a session titled “Working Abroad in India: Pros, Cons, and Ways Forward” on April 30 at 8:30am.

India offers a myriad of opportunities to expand your business portfolio and serves as a case study for any international work. The country’s booming economy and growing middle class is leading to an increased demand for foreign architects to design many projects, including airports, residential and commercial buildings, and resorts. AIA would like for you to be able to take advantage of these infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects in India and other foreign markets. This workshop will assist firms and AIA members by connecting them with members who have done work in India and resources that are available to help you succeed, including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im), and the Small Business Administration.

Attendees will learn about business opportunities that are available in India and other international markets, resources provided by the Federal government, and how to best use those resources. Problems that can occur while working abroad, how business practices differ from the United States, and how to comply with foreign laws will also be topics of discussion.
