The AIA and its 85,000 members support policies that empower architects to design buildings and communities that will enhance the quality of life for all Americans. The AIA has developed an aggressive yet practical legislative agenda for 2009 that calls on Congress and the Obama Administration to pursue policies that will stimulate work for architects, enabling us to design and construct 21st century schools and hospitals, high-performance commercial and residential buildings, and safe and efficient infrastructure.
Rebuild and Renew: The Next Steps
Over next several months, Congress will take up major legislation that affects architects and at the built environment. To rebuild and renew, the AIA supports efforts in the following five areas:
Here's How You Can Help
Federal Recovery Watch
Federal Stimulus Resources for Architects
Education Facilities and Economic Recovery: A Guide to School Construction and Modernization in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Federal Agency Connection PowerPoint Presentations
Stimulus Resources for State and Local Components
Now that President Obama has signed the ARRA into law, the dollars attached to the stimulus will now go directly to the states and localities. The AIA State and Local Relations Team has created a resource center, building on the enormous resources created for the federal Rebuild and Renew effort, to supply our components with as many tools possible to advocate for our members.
