AIA Launches Grassroots Survey – Who Do You Know?

In the current economy, businesses across the country are trying to do more with less, including those in the architectural industry. According to the US Department of Labor, over 60,000 payroll positions have been lost in architecture firms since the beginning of the recession. Additionally, an independent analysis by the AIA indicates strong evidence to conclude that firms that have survived the recession have been forced to downsize. The legislative goals of the staff and volunteers of AIA Government & Community Relations (GCR) focus on ensuring that policies are in place that will help the architectural profession through these tough economic times and beyond.

A strong and active grassroots network in which AIA members engage at both the state and federal levels is a key component to achieving these goals. An integral element of that grassroots network involves identifying the key connections that AIA members have with their legislators. To classify those connections, AIA GCR has released a survey to allow members to voluntarily provide their relationships with state and federal legislators. The results of this survey will help GCR and component state chapters ensure that legislative messages are being delivered in the most effective and influential way.

You may have recently received an email from Russ Davidson, AIA about this survey, and we hope that you will take just a few minutes to respond.
