One Week Left to Hold Your Recess Meeting

By Amanda Stratton, Manager, Grassroots & Advocacy Outreach

All throughout the summer recess, AIA members have been holding meetings with members of Congress and their staff on issues important to the profession. Legislators return to DC in just one week, so time is running out to see your member of Congress while they are at home in the district!

The remaining week offers a great opportunity to hold a quick meeting with your legislator. You can connect with them at already-scheduled events such as town hall meetings. Check your legislators’ websites and your local paper to see when they will be in your hometown. The AIA team here in DC has even prepared talking points for you to use during the discussion, and make sure to consult our quick tips for holding an impromptu meeting to be further prepared.

If you get a meeting with your legislator, don’t forget to tell us about it. We want to hear your meeting summary and see photos. They may even be featured on our Facebook and Twitter sites!

You too can hold a meeting that occurs on short notice but has a huge impact. Please let us know if you are able to attend an event with your legislator during the remainder of the recess. If you have any questions, Advocacy staff are here to help guide you. Contact Amanda Stratton, and she can provide you the tools you need today!
