Issues & AdvocacyState
The AIA launched its first ever Legislator Relationship survey in June in order to gauge the degree of political connectivity among the membership. So far, over 300 members have taken the survey. Don't miss your chance to do so and help your AIA!
As the 2012 election approaches, it is increasingly critical to have member participation in the political and lawmaking processes. Members must stay engaged in order to preserve and advance laws that are crucial to the public’s health, safety, and welfare and to the profession of architecture. The AIA Government and Community Relations department focusing on developing a stronger, more unified state-level advocacy network. In order to improve these operations, the Institute must identify more members willing to take on an active role in public affairs by working together with state components.
Legislators want to hear from members like you when making decisions that could affect the profession, and by participating in this survey, you will help the AIA present a more united front on legislative and policy issues. Your input will give state components the legislative influence they need to affect positive change in policy governing the profession and the built environment. This includes preventing unqualified groups from encroaching on the practice of architecture, preserving qualifications-based selection, and improving business opportunities for architects.
