St. Louis once again presents the AIA Photography Competition, open to
all architects, AIA associate members, and AIAS members in the U.S. The
top 15 entries will be exhibited at the 2003 AIA National Convention in
San Diego, May 8–10. Additionally, images for the American Architectural
Foundation’s 2005 Engagement Calendar will be selected from all
submitted entries (and include the 15 award winners).
Cash prizes will be
• First place, $500
• Second place, $400
• Third place, $300
• Louise Bethune Award, $200 (named after the first female American
architect; the subject of this award must be located in the U.S.)
• Digital Category, $200.
No image will
receive more than one cash award. The subject matter must have an architectural
theme or must contain some element of the manmade environment. Images
previously published and/or pending publication or cash-winning images
in previous AIA Photography competitions are not eligible. Please note
that only 2-inch x 2-inch 35mm color slides may be entered (even for digital
photography), and that all entries must have been exposed by and be owned
by the entrant.
The entry fee is $15 for AIAS members, $30 for AIA members, and $50 for
nonmembers. Entrants may submit up to five slides for each entry fee,
and may enter as many times as they like.
Entries are due April 1. Should
you decide to enter the contest, please send duplicates, as slides will
not be returned. To download a PDF of the full competition rules and an
