| The
Society of Architectural Historians (SAH), a CES registered provider,
invites the support and participation of AIA members who are interested
in the study, interpretation, and protection of historically significant
buildings, sites, and cities.
Founded in 1940, the society encourages scholarly research in the field
and promotes the preservation of significant architectural monuments that
are part of our worldwide historical and cultural heritage. The SAH serves
scholars, architects, preservationists, planners and professionals in
allied fields, and the interested public. Its more than 3,000 members
share a common interest in and enthusiasm for architectural history.
As
part of its mission, the SAH:
• Sponsors the pursuit and presentation of scholarly research
• Sponsors forums for the presentation of scholarly research and
exchange of ideas
• Provides publications that disseminate scholarly work, professional
information, and general information related to the field and of interest
to the public
• Acknowledges outstanding scholarly accomplishments in the field
with awards and fellowship
• Fosters scholarship, research, and education about the history
of the built environment, including an electronic forum through which
members can solicit input from their peers
• Organizes study tours of significant buildings and sites both
in the U.S. and abroad
• Supports the preservation of historic places and cultural heritage.
