Inc. (ARCOM) and ASTM International jointly announced an agreement May
6 to provide ARCOM’s MASTERSPEC® licensed users easy access
to ASTM’s standards through ARCOM's MASTERWORKS™ software.
The agreement allows ARCOM
to embed Web-enabled links within ARCOM’s MASTERWORKS and LINX software
to each standard’s document summary within ASTM’s online standard
search. The links also allow the user to purchase the standards easily.
“This agreement will provide improved service to MASTERSPEC licensed
users by putting access to ASTM standards right on their desktop,”
said ARCOM President Edward F. Smith, DArch, FAIA. The agreement provides
ASTM access to the 10,000 architecture and engineering organizations that
have licensed MASTERSPEC. These groups represent an estimated 50,000 design
professionals.
“ASTM is one of
the primary sources of standards in MASTERSPEC,” said Christopher
Bushnell, AIA, director of MASTERSPEC operations. “They are extensively
referenced in MASTERSPEC, with over 1,000 standards referenced in 540
specification sections. This arrangement will provide MASTERSPEC licensed
users easy access to ASTM standards at the same time as they are preparing
their project manuals,” he said. MASTERSPEC users will be able to
access the links to ASTM standards by early summer.
