Congress for the New Urbanism, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization
advocating mixed-use neighborhoods with pedestrian-friendly buildings,
selected 15 projects as exemplars of New Urbanism. The annual awards program
recognizes excellence at all scales of design, each with a different approach
to improving a city, town, or region. Winning projects range from a new
block in Berlin to a regional plan for the San Francisco Bay area and
a freeway demolition in Milwaukee.
