If you have a keen interest in increasing your personal involvement and effectiveness as a leader in civic and community service, the 2003 AIA Leadership Institute at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., October 8–11, can help you make it happen. Because the AIA is committed to the architect’s role as community leader and contributor to society through participation on civic and community boards, as elected or appointed officials, or in volunteer activities, it has designated funds for tuition assistance for participants of the 2003 AIA Leadership Institute.

Through participation in the Leadership Institute, you:

• Will recognize how to be a more effective contributor to the profession and the public
• Will improve your mentoring, advocacy, consensus, and team-collaborating skills
• Can become a powerful leader, policy-shaper, and decision maker.

This program is limited to 25 participants. The tuition is $2,000, exclusive of transportation and lodging. Scholarships in the amount of up to $1,000 will be awarded to qualified candidates on a first-apply basis. To qualify, you must be an AIA member, meet the program eligibility requirements outlined in the application, and be selected as a program participant. To be eligible for this scholarship, your completed application must be received by September 10.
