Justice Knowledge Community to Examine Innovations at Fall Conference in San Francisco

Join the AIA Committee on Architecture for Justice Knowledge Community in San Francisco, November 5-8, for the Justice Architecture: Sustainability/Design/Delivery/Practice conference. The meeting will center on discussion among world leaders in the justice field regarding innovation in sustainability strategies, planning, design, project delivery options, practice, technology, and research for courthouses, law enforcement, and detention/correction facilities. The conference will be divided into three tracks, one focusing on each of those three facility types. The CAJ Web site will have updates as they become available.

Coming Up: AIA Project Workshop for Government and Corporate Facility Decision Makers
The AIA Project Delivery Workshop, September 9, in Park City, Utah, is cost effective ($75) and time effective (there’s a one-day agenda). Sponsored by the AIA Public Architects knowledge community, the workshop will cover design-bid-build, design-build, CM@Risk, and bridging, as well as cutting-edge variations on alternative project delivery methods, such as rotation and alliancing. Participants will understand the differences among the various project delivery methods and strategies and how to pick the best method for a project, understand the architect’s roles and responsibilities associated with the different delivery methods, and be able to work in more collaborative environments where each will be supportive of the other in order to complete the project. Attendees will be eligible to receive four AIA CES credits for attending this workshop. Advance registration is available through August 27. Visit the AIA Public Architects Web site for more details or to register.
