AIA/CRAN DISCUSSION FORUM HIGHLIGHTS
Curated by Brenda Nelson
0The discussion forums have produced a significant number of potential publishing leads over the past few weeks. Our dedicated AIA staff use this vehicle to contact architects for specific projects when major publications need items for articles. The Wall Street Journal recently inquired about architects who could discuss luxury garage projects, high-end bachelor(ette) pads and courtyard designs. MSN Real Estate looked for designers who have two-story closets in their portfolio. Most recently, the CRAN leadership team has used the forum to call for projects which will be included in the first CRAN publication “Houses For All Regions.” The discussion board is a great place to find these marketing opportunities.
0Laura Kraft posted a message regarding the challenges facing all of us in a competitive marketplace concerning securing new work. The responses to her initial message are full of varied ideas on how to contact and work with clients at the first and/or second meetings. If you have not had an opportunity to read through this thread, you may do so here: http://network.aia.org/cran/Discussions/ViewThread/?GroupId=1771&MID=11526#bm11.
0California has begun the process of organizing a statewide CRAN! Thanks to John Stewart for forwarding that information via the forum pages. You may find the details at this thread link: http://network.aia.org/cran/Discussions/ViewThread/?GroupId=1771&MID=11442.
0John Stewart also encountered a business dilemma in which a client was looking for free services, and he shared his experience via the forums. The responses once again showcase a variety of marketing and business development ideas that may be applied to your practice. This thread generated enough discussion to spin off into two or three later threads. You may follow the initial discussion through this link: http://network.aia.org/cran/Discussions/ViewThread/?GroupId=1771&MID=10921#bm0.
