SPP Journal: Issue number 59 | Summer 2013
Letter from the Editor
Welcome to the 59th Issue of the Small Projects Practitioners Journal. This issue comes a month after the National AIA Convention in Denver which included many events related to small project practitioners. There were eight seminars, workshops, and events for small project practitioners with more than 1500 attendees. What great participation! This was also the first year of SPP’s own Twitter feed. For those of you who would like to download handouts from the convention, click here. And if you missed the convention, you can visit the virtual convention site. We hope to see you at next year’s convention in Chicago.
Risk is the theme of this issue of the SPP Journal. The feature article, written by Randy DeLopst, a veteran of the insurance industry, discusses the myriad of insurance types and what architectural firms should consider. His thorough coverage even includes detangling the complicated web of car rental insurance and its inherent coverage holes. On the other hand, Marc Manack, AIA debates risk as it relates to liability and why we as architects should take design risks.
