The 11,000 sq ft. main house interior contains a series of intimate spaces that are analogous to the sequencing of exterior sheltered courtyards. A unique technological and visual innovation is the use of glass solar panels, which are distributed along the south, east and west perimter of the upper roof. The 87 panels are directly connected to the power grid, producing 13 kilowattts of energy and offsetting two-thirds of peak performance cost of the house. Strategically placed on the roof, these panels shade the space below with a dynamic pattern that animates the fašade. The panels are both functional and aesthetic.
