Non-traditional Traditions

My family’s Christmas traditions have never mimicked those illustrated in a Rockwell painting… Because of my family’s non-traditional traditions, the holidays have become more about having a house full of family to string white lights around the palm trees and hit whiffle balls with a golf club in the back yard. Unfortunately, our house might be empty this year because of high travel costs combined with budget tightening. BOK Center Achieves Iconic Design in Tulsa

When internationally acclaimed architect Cesar Pelli conceived of the design for the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was inspired by civic leaders’ desire for an architecturally significant icon with a world-class identification for the city. Deadline Approaching! - The Jason Pettigrew ARE® Scholarship
In recognition of his contributions to internship and licensure, and the profession–including his own pursuit of the ARE-the NAC is has established a national ARE scholarship in honor of Jason Pettigrew, Assoc. AIA. The purpose of the award is to recognize the significant contributions of interns at an early stage of their career, and to help encourage them to complete their licensure by helping with the cost of the exam. The deadline for submissions is Friday, January 9, 2009 at 5PM ET.

The IDP Outstanding Firm Awards Program is now accepting submissions for the January 15, 2009 deadline. This program honors firms who choose to make nurturing their interns on the path to achieving licensure a priority.

The Intern Development Program Advisory Committee (IDPAC) has announced the recipients of the IDP Firm Award and the IDP Outstanding Firm Award. The firms have not only satisfied the requirements for recognition with the IDP Firm Award, but have demonstrated a deep commitment to the program by going above and beyond the baseline criteria. ARE 3.1 Ends in Eight Months
If you are currently eligible to take ARE 3.1 divisions, please keep in mind that if you take and fail any ARE 3.1 division on or after January 1, 2009, you will not be permitted to retake that division due to NCARB's mandatory six-month waiting period. No exceptions will be made to the six-month retake policy. If you don’t complete all portions of ARE 3.1 by June 2009, you will be transitioned to ARE 4.0 on July 1, 2009. Please visit NCARB’s website to see the online transition chart to see which divisions in ARE 4.0 you will need to take to complete the ARE.

As you are aware, AIA members must earn 18 hours of continuing education learning units (LUs) annually. Beginning in 2009, four of those 18 hours must now be in the area of sustainable design.

Congratulations Architects!
