Rapid population growth radiating from metro Omaha and nearby Lincoln and Council Bluffs is fueling unprecedented economic, demographic and social-cultural change in a region dubbed the “Flatwater Metroplex.” As this sixteen-county region prepares for a projected doubling in population in the next 40 years, AIA Nebraska and the Joslyn Castle Institute for Sustainable Communities are helping urban and rural communities meet growth challenges through sustainable solutions that emphasize community engagement and regional cooperation.
