What to Expect From AIA/CES Registered Providers

FOR THOSE SCHEDULING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS USING AIA/CES PROVIDERS:

The American Institute of Architects is dedicated to meeting and facilitating the needs of architects on a worldwide scale. One of the most recent and growing needs of architects is that of meeting Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) requirements either for AIA, state licensure or in many cases, both.

Architectural boards in 33 states, 10 Canadian Provinces and 16 Countries have implemented MCE for re-licensure. Statistically, the average architect holds multiple state licenses. States with MCE recognize the AIA/CES as the primary source of professional development for their licensed architects.

If you are responsible for scheduling educational programs for your chapter members or staff, please be aware of the guidelines to which AIA/CES Providers must adhere in order to remain active in the program.   Below are some documents that you might find useful to help you understand the expectations of presenters of AIA/CES programs and some guidelines for program formats.

Download:
Deliverables - this document serves to help you know what information you can request from a Provider when you are coordinating with them to deliver CES programs.
Sample Program Summary - this document is a sample of a program overview that Providers should be able to deliver to you when scheduling CES programs so you are aware of what to expect.
Quality Commitment Statement - this document should be signed by every AIA/CES presenter acknowledging their responsibilities when delivering CES programs.  This is a new requirement and is included in the 2006 Provider Manual.  Points of Contact are required to hold onto signed commitment statements in the event of an audit.
Quality Assurance Slides - these slides are a new quality assurance mandate.  The required slides should be included in 2006 PowerPoint formats.
Program Evaluation Form - this is an evaluation form that we encourage you to use if you would like to give AIA/CES some feedback on the program.  We do not require Providers to distribute and collect this form but this is the form used in the event of a program audit/review.  The questions asked point directly to information that we must collect when performing a program review/audit.

We encourage your feedback and are always looking to help our Providers deliver the most appropriate and quality education.  Your suggestions are welcome.
Email ces@aia.org
if you have any comments or thoughts about how to best serve architects in this respect.
