Gulf Coast Green 2009: Call for
Speaker Proposals is open
Gulf Coast Green 2009 seeks presenters from architectural,
planning, engineering, education, energy analysis and similar
professions for its April event relevant to the conference theme -
CREATING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES: large scale low impact.
Geared toward attendees with an intermediate to high level of
knowledge about building sustainability issues, GCG seeks
presentations relevant to the session tracks listed below and how
they pertain to sustainable communities.

Interested in Integrated Project
Delivery?
Integrated project delivery is a collaborative project delivery
approach that fully integrates all stakeholders early on in the
process. This approach allows participants to optimize project
results, increase value, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency
throughout the project lifecycle.
Upjohn Research Initiative Call for
Submissions
AIA Research Initiatives include the Upjohn Research Initiative, which matches
base funds for applied research projects that advance professional
practice, and the RFP Research Program, in which the AIA
awards up to 10 grants of $7,000 each for selected projects. This
grant qualifies recipients to have their findings and outcomes
published both electronically in the AIA Soloso online database and
in a nationally distributed publication: The American Institute of
Architects Report on University Research. 2008 recipients of this
grant include the Design for Aging Knowledge
Community and Constance Bodurow, Assoc. AIA. of the Regional
and Urban Design Committee Knowledge Community. Deadline is
September 1.
Diversity Recognition
Program
This program celebrates and invites the contributions of AIA
members toward the goal of a more diverse profession. Up to
12 submissions will be selected annually to be recognized as
Diversity Best Practices. All individuals submitting a proposal
must sign the waiver/release form. Electronic
submissions are preferred and should be sent to diversity@aia.org by September
15.
