New COTE Team Members for 2008

We are delighted to announce that we have three new members of the COTE team at the national advisory group and adjunct level.

Alexis Karolides, AIA, of Rocky Mountain Institute, is our newest 2008 Advisory Group member. Alexis is a research principal with the RMI/ENSAR Built Environment Team and a registered architect with experience in commercial, institutional, and industrial building design. She has consulted on such projects as a prototype energy-efficient supermarket, green renovation of historic military buildings, and energy planning and building retrofit strategies for a college campus. She has provided educational seminars and integrated design workshops for major cities and Fortune 500 corporations in the United States and abroad. Alexis has accepted invitations to speak on green building concepts at numerous conferences and has presented guest lectures at several colleges and universities.

Joining us as adjunct members of the Advisory Group are Angela Heinze, AIA, with Looney Ricks Kiss, and Lance Davis, AIA, with the US General Services Administration (GSA).

Angela will serve as our liaison to the AIA Communities by Design group. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and a senior associate at Looney Ricks Kiss Architects in Memphis. While she was with Mackey Mitchell in St. Louis, Angela was principal in charge of the LEED Platinum certified -- the highest ranking available -- development of Alberici Corp.'s new headquarters in St. Louis. "The payback time has decreased, too, from a seven-year payback to a two-year payback."

Lance is in Washington, DC, which means that he has already been serving to represent COTE at meetings where our Advisory Group cannot be there, such as a green codes meeting last fall. Lance is with the GSA and is part of the Sustainable Design Program in the Office of Applied Science within GSA’s Public Buildings Service. Lance, a LEED Accredited Professional, was a founding board member of the National Capital Region Chapter of the USGBC.

We are also very pleased that we have representation on the AIA Continuing Education Quality Assurance Panel (CEQAP) committee in Rives Taylor, AIA, LEED AP, of Gensler, and that Steve McDowell, FAIA, of BNIM, is serving as the COTE liaison to the AIA Sustainability Discussion Group, which includes several AIA board members.
