"Design-Build in the U.S. and the UK"
From AIA PodNet: Do you want to know more about
alternative project delivery in the United Kingdom? Bill Quatman,
FAIA, 2007 chair of the AIA Design-Build, interviews British
architect and author Andrew Thomas, RIBA. The podcast was created
in conjunction with the joint AIA- and DBIA-sponsored international
conference, Design Excellence/Design-Build, held September

Aha Moment: Mission of Burma
(Podcast)
Danny Sagan, a listener, grew up in New Jersey
listening to arena rock. One night, he tagged along to a grimy club
across the river in Manhattan for an ear-splitting punk

architect. Produced by Studio 360's Derek John with Adda Birnir.
Conference
Report: "Design
Excellence/Design-Build"
September 2729, 2007
London
Several new variations of alternative procurement methods have
evolved in the UK under the label of public-private
partnerships (PPP): private finance initiatives
(PFIs) and DBFOM (design-build-finance-operate-maintain),
among others. At this transatlantic conference, UK practitioners
debated the advantages and shortcomings of PPP projects in Britain,
and U.S. architects compared their experiences with those of their
UK colleagues.

"Taking
the Lead Role in Project Delivery"
A May 2007 BusinessWeek
article featured an architect who took the lead
and changed the way his firm practices forever. Does your firm have
a similar story to tell? If so, please contact Bill Quatman, FAIA,
at bquatman@stklaw.com. We seek
information and articles about architects who have led design-build
projects.
Design-Build
Summit 2007 Report
Will design-build transform the architecture profession? Will
traditional design-bid-build lose its long-held dominance of the
construction industry? Speakers at the March 2007 Design-Build
Summit in Kansas City, Mo., answered "yes" to both questions.
