2008 Congressional Primary Schedule

Though some states have scheduled their congressional primaries (for the offices of U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives) to coincide with the state's presidential primary, most occur much later in the electoral season. Below is a list of the most recent information available on congressional primary elections.

Please note that many states will also hold a runoff election, which is used if no candidate garners an absolute majority of votes in the primary. If this occurs, a runoff will be held for the two candidates who received the most votes in the primary. All other candidates are excluded from the runoff.
