Each year we reach out to all of our members to share what
projects we have been working on and to see what new interest there
is from people who will help expand the work of the Design for
Aging Knowledge Community. Our goals are to share knowledge among
all interested in improving the environment we design for seniors.
To this end, some of our special initiatives this year have
included:
- Expanding our quarterly newsletter,
- Creating an advocacy group to work with the Access Board on
issues of Assisted Transfer,
- Establishing local Design for Aging groups in Seattle,
Boston and San Francisco,
- Strengthening links between our organization and other
affiliated groups such as AARP, Promoting speakers at conferences
and webcasts and
- Data-Mining the Design for Aging Review data, just to name
a few.
Our committees include:
Communications
Universal Design/Advocacy
Membership
Components
Design for Aging Review
Post Occupancy Evaluations
Next Generation

Collaboration & Education
Sponsorships
We have created a new structure within our organization that to be
an member of the Advisory Group, we are going to be pulling from
active committee members who have dedicated time to advance our
work. If you are interested in serving on the AG or if you just
have a few moments and a particular talent or interest to help, we
would appreciate hearing from you. Please contact Kathleen
Lane, Director, AIA Knowledge Communities.
