Education & Practice Partnering

Educator/Practitioner Network (EPN)
The EPN Advisory Committee is dedicated to facilitating partnerships between educators and practitioners for the professional preparation of architects. For more information, visit http://www.aia.org/epn.

The Practice Academy
The Practice Academy is a new partnership of the AIA, the architectural academy, and architecture firms to provide a framework for a rigorous internship for students and architectural interns. Three selected schools of architecture will each receive a total of $30,000 over the next three years to support the development of their proposed pilot program.

AIA Provides Scholarships through its Components
The AIA national component supports local and state components and their affiliated foundations in their efforts to provide scholarships to students in NAAB-accredited programs. Guidelines have been revised to include wider distribution of awards and encourage additional student scholarships. For more information please download guidelines and application form.

AIA Case Studies Initiative
The AIA invites collaboration—by firms and schools of architecture, and by faculty and researchers with practitioners—to research, document, and analyze recently completed and ongoing projects. The purpose of this initiative is to share experience and knowledge of practice—both success stories and lessons learned—for the benefit of the profession, owners/clients, and the public.

AIA Education Honor Awards: 1988 - 2008
The AIA Education Honor Awards recognize the achievements of outstanding teaching faculty and promote models of excellence. Read more about award-winning courses from 2004-2008 and see a chronology of all previous winners since 1988.

Large Firm Roundtable/Deans Forum
The purpose of the Large Firm Roundtable/Deans Forum is to facilitate a rich and evolving dialogue between leaders of large architecture firms and deans of leading architecture schools. Reports documenting these important discussions on trends in the profession and in education are available online.
