STAFF ASSIGNMENTS
Carolyn Snowbarger, Managing Director, Professional Development and Resources
Carolyn directs programs, services, and strategies that facilitate the lifelong learning for current and prospective AIA members including continuing education, scholarships, Discovery transcript service, and online learning. She also works closely with the AIA’s Education Committee.
Prior to joining the AIA, Carolyn served as the director of the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, a nationwide program of educator training and resources. She has significant experience in innovative programs, project management, and evaluation. Carolyn also has overseen awards programs, research initiatives, and managed a large corps of volunteers. Previously she worked for the Olathe (Kans.) School District as a classroom teacher and professional development provider for educators. She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Kansas and is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Alla Orlova, MA, Director, Continuing Education
Alla is responsible for the overall management of continuing education and professional learning. Serves as the key organizational and AIA policy advisor on mandatory continuing education issues within the AIA national component, working with state and local components, as well as other associations, and state licensing boards on continuing professional education. Explores emerging trends in continuing education content delivery including web-based models and distance learning. Oversees program quality, development, and administration of the AIA Member records and CES Provider services. In addition, manages the work of the continuing education team.
Katherine Gupman, Manager, CES Technology
Katherine manages efforts to improve and maintain the CES Discovery system for members, components and CES Providers. Attendance reporting to CES Discovery via bulk uploads, direct reporting and Electronic Attendance Forms is also a focus of her work. Katherine manages the AIA Virtual Convention efforts, including recording and delivery sessions online, attendance reporting and troubleshooting credit and technical difficulties.
Jamie Yeung, Manager, Professional Development and Resources
Jamie is responsible for overseeing a number of scholarship opportunities offered by AIA National to architecture students. Current list of AIA National scholarship programs include the AIA/AAF Minority Disadvantaged Scholarship, the a/e Pronet David W. Lakamp Scholarship, AIA Component Matching Grant Program and the AIA Henry Adams Medal and Certificate Program. The four programs are awarded annually and aim to support, recognize, and celebrate outstanding scholastic achievement.
Ramiro Solorzano, Assoc. AIA, Manager, CES Provider Audits
As the Manager for Provider Audits, Ramiro strives to maintain the quality of Continuing Education for AIA members working with CES Providers to ensure they continue to make significant contributions to the Continuing Education System. Ramiro is responsible for ensuring the Provider programs support practice needs of members and requirements for AIA membership and states licensure. Ramiro as the initial point of contact for CES Provider audits and manages and analyzes the CES Provider audit workflow to ensure standards and policies and satisfactorily followed.
Aaron Neumann, Manager, CES Member Services
Aaron is responsible for assisting AIA members, AIA providers, AIA Components, architecture firms, and other design professionals on issues related to identifying and delivering transcript services, professional continuing education programs, and professional development services. This position will serve as the point of contact for AIA members, components, firms and other design professionals on issues related to AIA membership requirements and state mandatory continuing education (MCE requirements). In addition to management of the continuing education member educational requirements and opportunities and CES audits, Aaron is responsible for the development and maintenance of CES provider data.
William Murillo, Manager, CES Provider Training
In this position, William is responsible for providing high quality training related to the AIA CES policies, software, and best practices for existing and, prospective providers, components and staff. In addition, Will maintains the overall design and management of the CES provider training programs. This includes training CES Providers relative to the AIA/CES Program. It also includes developing an annual training plan/curriculum, training content, helping to publicize and market training, and ensuring the effectiveness of training offered by and for providers.
Royce Brown, Assoc. AIA, Manager, Continuing Education Programs
Royce is responsible for performing quality control review of course submissions for compliance with CES Policies and Procedures. His focus is on course content and adherence to HSW guidelines, and working with providers to help ensure courses being offered through the AIA are of the highest quality possible. He also teaches “In the Mind of Reviewer” webinars, as well as works on curriculum design initiatives. Royce has an architecture degree and several years of experience in the field, having worked in a variety of architecture and engineering firm sizes from his hometown of New York City through Maryland and Washington DC. Prior to joining the CES Team Royce has worked as a Specialist of the Emerging Professionals for three years assisting on several projects and guiding AIA members and intern along their path to licensure.
Jean Feroldi, Assoc. AIA, Manager, CES Communications and Review
In this position, Jean is responsible for reviewing content for AIA CES course submissions to ensure educational and subject matter quality for approval for AIA CES Continuing Education hours. Jean also serves as the communications representative for the AIA CES team and manages content on the Education page of the AIA website. In addition, Jean serves as editor of the Provider Connection newsletter and maintains the AIA CES Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Beverly Holton, Director, Convention Education
Manages and coordinates all aspects of the AIA National Convention continuing education programming, including: program administration and management; education program content generation, selection, and recording educational learning units; publicizing and marketing continuing education programs; and managing the logistics for on-site delivery of workshops and seminars for The American Institute of Architects annual national convention and exposition.
