Proof of Compliance
Proof of participation in continuing education activities shall include:
- A log showing the activity claimed, sponsoring organization, location, and duration
- An attendance certificate
- A signed attendance receipt
- A paid receipt
- A list of attendees signed by a person in charge of the activity
- Similar documentation.
- The following shall be submitted for renewal of a license:
(a) A Continuing Education Annual Report Form listing the completed courses;
(b) A renewal application; and
(c) The renewal fee.
- An incomplete submission shall be returned to the registrant.
- random sample of annual reports shall be reviewed to ensure accuracy and compliance.
The registrant shall:
- Be responsible for retaining proof of participation in continuing education activities;
- Retain a record for continuing education for a period of 2 years from the date of submission of the annual report to the board; and
- Furnish copies of continuing education records on the request of the board for audit purposes.
Non-Compliance Penalties
Failure to fulfill the continuing education requirements or file the required annual report, properly completed and signed, shall result in non-renewal of the architect’s certificate of registration.
If a licensee fails to comply with the continuing education requirements, the following penalties may be imposed:
- Refusal to grant a license;
- Refusal to renew or reissue a license;
- Private or public reprimand;
- Imposition of probation;
- Suspension of a license;
- Revocation of a license.
Exceptions and Exemptions
To annually renew his/her license, an architect registered in Kentucky shall comply with this administrative regulation unless he/she is exempted by one (1) of the following reasons:
- He/she is exempted as a first time registrant by:
(a) Examination; or
(b) Reciprocity;
- He/she is an emeritus status architect who:
(a) Is at least sixty-five (65) years old;
(b) Has requested emeritus status at the beginning of the license renewal period; and
(c) Has retired from practice;
- He/she is a civilian who serves on active duty in the United States Armed Forces for a period of time exceeding ninety (90) consecutive days during the annual report period;
- He/she is a registrant of another National Council of Architectural Registration Board's jurisdiction that has a required continuing education program, if:
(a) It accepts Kentucky requirements to satisfy its continuing education requirements; and
(b) The registrant certifies that all requirements for current continuing education compliance and registration have been met in that jurisdiction.
