The final regulations are subject to review and approval by various governmental entities before they will be published for a final comment period. Once approved for publication, the supporting documentation will include the summary of the comments and the Board's response. While the regulations are subject to review and approval at this time, it is anticipated that they may be in effect by early 2009. There is a one-year delayed enactment clause built into the draft [18 VAC 10-20-683(A)], which states "Individuals whose licenses expire, or apply for reinstatement after [DATE - 12 months after the effective date of these regulations] shall be required to comply with the continued education provisions of this chapter." Therefore, dependent upon when a license expires, continuing education may or may not be required when the license renewal date comes up.
