AIA Member Needs

The AIA requires that registered architect members earn 18 LU hours of continuing education annually (12 of which must relate to health, safety, and welfare [HSW] topics — and 4 of those 12 in sustainable design) to remain in good standing.

Architectural licensing boards in 46 states and the District of Columbia, 10 Canadian provinces, and 19 countries have implemented mandatory continuing education (MCE) requirements for license renewal. Most architects hold multiple state licenses. Because most states with MCE requirements recognize AIA/CES as the primary source of professional development for their licensed architects, AIA members can present their AIA/CES transcripts (and non-members, their AIA/CES certificates of completion) to licensing boards to satisfy state requirements.

Subscription Options

As an AIA/CES Provider, you can offer courses in several educational formats (face-to-face, online, magazine articles, and Web seminars) and offer them locally, nationally, or globally. The delivery method depends on the type of organization you are and where (or how) you want to offer courses.
