Dear AIA/CES Providers:

As we announced in recent issues of the CES Provider Connection, we are pleased that Wendy Kirkpatrick of Kirkpatrick Partners will present a provider workshop, Training on Trial, May 11th in New Orleans. This workshop, which is hosted by the AIA’s Continuing Education System will be at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans Hotel. The workshop will be from 1:00 PM-5:30 PM with a cocktail reception following from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM.

Ms. Kirkpatrick’s presentation will prepare you to effectively demonstrate how training is valuable to the bottom line of your business.

    • You will learn why measures like numbers of courses held and attendees do not equal value in the eyes of our key business partners or to the corporate jury;

    • You will learn the key metrics that are important to business and how you can support them;

    • You will learn how, through business partnership, you can solidify the importance of the workplace learning organization to the company and can enjoy a secure position regardless of economic fluctuations.

Based on the book, Training on Trial, this interactive seminar facilitated by the world leader in training evaluation is not to be missed! After this session, you will be able to

    • Describe the difference between effective training and training effectiveness,

    • Plan and deliver training programs with business value in mind, and

    • Demonstrate program value in terms that business partners understand

As you submit attendance for a course, if you do not click the “Grade” button and complete the attendance submission, the credits will not post to attendees transcripts. International Green Construction Code

As many of you may know the ICC, along with it’s co-sponsors, AIA, USGBC, ASTM, IES, and ASHRAE, developed the International Green Construction Code to be released in 2012. Many local and state jurisdictions, which include Rhode Island, have already adopted the whole code or part of it to include in their code amendments. It’s possible the adoption of the code will have profound effects on the design and construction industry, and as a result will affect the continuing education that supports the industry. Please visit the International Code Council site at http://www.iccsafe.org to familiarize yourself with the IGCC.
