OBJECTIVE: Participants will: 1) Gain a better understanding of the process of decision-making using good information therefore designing and documenting accurately the first time. 2) Learn to arrive at a clearly defined, feasible concept and present it in a form that achieves client understanding and acceptance. 3) Clarify project program, explore most promising design solutions, and provide reasonable basis for analyzing the cost of a project. 4) Illustrate possible solutions within the shortest possible time and at a minimum expense.

OBJECTIVE: Participants will gain first-hand knowledge about how cabinets are constructed. Topics to be covered include: project bidding and preparation of shop drawings based on architectural drawings; cabinet construction methods; comparison of materials; ADA requirements; and AWI (American Woodwork Institute) standards. Participants will also observe the actual production of cabinets in an active cabinet-making shop. Discussions will address how drawings and specifications should be prepared to address design intent, field conditions, coordination with other trades, fabrication options and installation.
