Once licensed, many young architects may find it challenging to
acquire continuing education in their areas of professional
interest. The EPC can be a powerful tool in encouraging lifelong
learning and research among architects. Architects may use EPC
exercises to stimulate research activities either independantly or
in teams. AIA Continuing Education credit is earned by using
the self-report form for architects and designating that time as
research.
What Do I Need To Know?

Get Credit for Mentoring!
Architects who work with interns as they complete the
Companion exercises and scenarios will find that they will gain
knowledge that will enhance their own practice. The AIA encourages
IDP Supervisors and IDP mentors to self-report the time spent
preparing for a meeting with an intern and/or the time in the spent
meeting with the intern as a continuing education opportunity. The
architect will be required to submit learning objectives to show
the areas of their practice that were enriched by this
experience.
