IDP Advisory Committee

The IDP Coordinating Committee (IDPCC) was created in 1975 by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and the AIA, and exists as a joint NCARB/AIA advisory committee. In December 2006, the committee's name was changed to the IDP Advisory Committee (IDPAC) to more appropriately reflect the role of advisor to NCARB and AIA on matters relating to improving the Intern Development Program.

NCARB is solely responsible for governing IDP through the establishment of the program’s training criteria and a national system for monitoring interns’ training progress. The IDPAC was formed to bring representatives of appropriate architectural stakeholder organizations together to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern regarding the Intern Development Program.

Based on the terms of an agreement between NCARB and AIA, the IDPAC is co-chaired by a member of each organization’s Board of Directors. Committee membership, appointed by NCARB/AIA consent, currently includes an at-large intern representative and representatives from the following stakeholder groups:

IDPAC assignments come directly from the NCARB and AIA presidents. Suggestions for future assignments are subject to approval by the NCARB and AIA presidents or presidents-elect. Funding for IDPCC activities is provided by NCARB and AIA.
