Earn AIA/CES Learning Units Through Faith & Form

Architects can earn AIA Continuing Education learning units by reading designated articles and sponsored sections in the Faith & Form education issue and answering test questions on the continuing education reporting form. Simply read the article, complete the continuing education form for that article, take the quiz for that article, and return the form to IFRAA. You must answer 80 percent of the quiz questions to receive credit.

Continuing Education Quizzes and Reporting Forms
The Aural Environment for Worship,” Dawn Schuette; Faith & Form No. 1 , 2007

AIA/CES Continuing Education Guidelines

1. AIA members are limited to a maximum of eight articles per year (January to December). AIA/CES Records will post the surplus articles to your record if you submit them but they will not be added to your totals for the year. If you report more than eight articles per year, the excess credit cannot carry over to the following year. You may only carry credit to the following year once the annual requirement has been exceeded. Since you may only receive a maximum of eight hours from magazine articles, the surplus articles cannot carry forward.

2. A separate continuing education reporting form must be completed for each continuing education article or section. The form may be accessed on the IFRAA Web site for one year past the publish date of the article. The correct answers to the multiple choice test questions must be circled on the reporting form and the form must be completed with the applicant’s name, AIA member number, and other contact information.

3. Reporting forms will be mailed to the AIA IFRAA address listed on the reporting form. All Continuing Education registrations will be forwarded to the AIA/CES records office at the University of Oklahoma for inclusion on AIA Continuing Education transcripts. (The date the AIA/CES records office ascribes to the learning units will be the last day of the month in which they receive notification from the provider that the learning unit credit has been earned.)

4. Certificates of completion: To comply with state licensing mandatory continuing education issues, IFRAA has established a system to provide certificates of completion to participants who request this documentation. A passing score of 80 percent on the test answers is required for successful completion. You may request a certificate on each reporting form. You will not receive a certificate unless you request one.

5. AIA/CES-approved magazine articles and sections that are more than one year old can only be self-reported as part of a self-designed research project, not for HSW credit. Contact the AIA records office in Oklahoma for self-reporting, 800-605-8229. Articles and sections published within one year of this issue must use the AIA/CES Reporting Form associated with those articles or sections.
