Description:

This is a senior management position, on the AIA Management Team, that provides leadership and strategic direction for AIA technology projects, oversees and manages the web and technology governance process and resulting groups(including development and management of processes, policies, procedures), develops and manages strategic web and technology partnerships with industry and other organizations, and oversees the technical aspects of the eknowledge strategy represented by SOLOSO, the social networking and knowledge repository site of the AIA.


Duties:

Soloso-
• Serves as overall technical strategic lead for the AIA’s knowledge based social networking product, Soloso.
• Oversees the smooth integration of Soloso content (text, images, etc.) into electronic format distribution systems, working with multiple vendors using selected automated strategies in the integration process; assure deliverables of future product plan releases and milestones are met.
• Identifies, secures and monitors technical quality of content from internal AIA sources and external strategic content partners. Negotiates and administers agreements with strategic content partners, as appropriate.
• Oversees the assessment and investigation of different external and internal technologies and how these factors might be applied to solve a given user preference, add to a current product offering or expedite content accessibility, navigation and usage.
• Establishes and monitors web usage reports on site traffic and other statistics and recommend adjustments to Soloso based on those findings and trends.

Web and Technology Partnerships -

• Provides leadership and direction for strategic web and technology alliances and partnerships including creating the strategy and plan to leverage the partnerships and alliances.
• Delivers long-term, highly visible partnerships with companies and other organizations (e.g., foundations, not-for-profits, government agencies, trade and professional associations) that can add value to the AIA brand, while providing direct value to the AIA membership. Develops, in consultation with lead program or product executives and is involved in implementing the programs.
• Manages resulting web and technology partnerships and alliances for the AIA and provides oversight and direction for resulting products, websites, or other representations of partnerships or alliances.
• Develops an integrated process for the development of new web and technology business ideas and opportunities, as well as, managing the process of identifying, evaluating and selecting the best of these ideas and opportunities for execution.
• Manages or leads special projects as assigned by the VP Integrated Web Strategy and Technology and/or the AIA Executive Office.

Web and Technology Governance-

• Develops in collaboration with the Vice President of Integrated Web Strategy and Technology a framework and plan for the creation, implementation, and management of a web and technology governance process at the AIA.
• Leads the coordination and work resulting from the web and technology governance process and plan.
• Communicates via written and oral reports and other researched documentation to the Executive team and other groups.
• Chairs the Web and Technology Management team comprised of Directors and Managing Directors from various areas of the AIA National component.
• Coordinates the three working levels of the governance process (Executive Team, Management Team, and Production Team).
• Directs and develops research, position papers, or other informed document with subordinate staff and other AIA staff focused on web and technology opportunities, approaches, and strategies including policy, procedure, and implementation guidelines.
• Creates web and technical policies, procedures, guidelines, standards and processes for the management of the web and technology at the AIA National component.
• Oversees project management and other processes that enable the successful creation, launch, and management of web and technology projects and products.

Customer care and product support-

• Provides leadership of the overall Soloso user experience, including on-going enhancement of current processes and technical support of Soloso users.
• Ensures the documenting and validating of processes, procedures, guidelines, and checklists that enable the realization of the governance and project management processes for web and technology management at the AIA.
• Manages contracts and agreements.

Financial management -

• Directs the budgeting process for responsibility areas by compiling and reviewing budget submissions for operating expenses and revenue projections; participating in budget reviews and monitoring/analyzing on-going progress toward achieving financial and programmatic goals.
• Prepares management reports and other documents on Soloso product and other areas of responsibility including and team progress.

Experience:

Demonstrated skill in product development and launch, leadership and collaboration. Skill in developing and accomplishing programmatic and fiscal goals for a multi-million dollar product and service business. Considerable skill in written/oral communication, and negotiation. Considerable skill in facilitation, team building, collaborative problem solving, conflict resolution, and volunteer management. Considerable knowledge of the development and marketing of web sites and electronic distribution of intellectual property. Demonstrated ability to coordinate diverse resources. Skill in using computer systems technologies and a demonstrated understanding of the electronic publications environment.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Publishing/Journalism, Library Science, Information Technology, or related field plus ten or more years of relevant senior level experience managing a multi-million dollar product and services program. Advanced degree helpful.


Supervisory Requirements:


Directs a staff of 5 or more regular full time employees and/or contractors and leads project and initiative based cross departmental teams.
