CLE: What Your Knowledge Community is Doing for You

Dear CLE Members,

Greetings from the AIA’s Committee on Leadership Education … or “CLE”!

Official Knowledge Community Status for the CLE
As the incoming 2008 Chair of the CLE, I want to “officially” welcome you to the Committee on Leadership Education, which was granted full Knowledge Community status during the October meeting of the Board Knowledge Community (BoKnoCo). This milestone underscores the importance, which we all know exists, of the developement of leadership skills for architects, and has truly reinforced our mission!

Recognition and Thanks
Two members or our Advisory Group are stepping down, Kevin Flynn, AIA (2007 Chair), and Karen ‘K.C.’ Harrison (CACE Liaison). They deserve our gratitude and thanks for their work in developing this community.

Help Build a Community
At some point over the past year, you indicated an interest in the Committee on Leadership Education and what it has to offer. Is it fulfilling the need you thought it would? What has worked for you?

2008 Projects
Efforts to continue the CLE as an active, beneficial network of individuals interested in leadership education (or ‘educating’) through electronic (as well as face to face) communications and ultimately sharing our experiences and concerns are just getting started. Note: the Research Sub-committee needs additional volunteers. More details are available, so please let us know if you would be more interested in becoming more involved with this aspect of the community.

Share to Build this Community
As a member of the CLE, you recognize the importance of leadership skills, resources and knowledge for architects. However, we are now at a crossroads, at which we seek the best possible method for communicating these three aspects to all of you. Toward that end, we offer the following tools and resources:

Contact the CLE.
Share your comments, your leadership moments, build the community
