Formed in October 2000, the National
Associates Committee (NAC) was a natural evolution of the
Intern/Associate Committee, originally formed in 1993. Today, the
NAC is a representative body of Regional Associates Directors
(RAD), one from each of the 18 AIA regions. Their charge is to
represent Associates, both mainstream and alternative, providing
information and leadership to every regional, state and local
component. At the center of this is a desire to integrate the
growing Associates community of the profession into a strong voice
within the institute.
As national representative of roughly 18% of the entire membership
of the American Institute of Architects, the National Associates
Committee (NAC) is key to moving the profession forward into the
new millennium. A Regional Associate Director will address local,
regional and national issues and create, shape, and dictate new
policy. The structure of the National Associates Committee allows
individuals to focus their interests by being a member of the
Executive Committee, as well as other various committees and task
forces. The group is charge with approaching an issue and arriving
at a definitive solution that will create a legacy and standard for
future Associates. By speaking with one clear and consistent voice
the National Associates Committee draws attention to the education,
dedication, skills, and effort of all Associates that they
represent.
NAC Alumni Organization
While not an official organization, former NAC members
have assisted the NAC through various roles and responsibilities as
designated by the committee.
