Reed Insight Powers Pre-Bid Searches for Architects

A new digital portal arms architects with vital business intelligence

On June 27, at AIA Convention 2014 in Chicago, Robert Ivy, FAIA, CEO/Executive Vice President of the AIA announced the launch of a new, community-driven analytics tool available as a benefit to AIA members. Called Reed Insight, the digital portal allows architects to build a social network, scout work, and secure projects in all 50 U.S. states.

“This tool was designed to answer a critical need for our members,” said Ivy. “Reed Insight is easy to use, and has powerful implications for practicing architects and their careers.”

Reed Construction Data’s Reed Insight, developed in association with the AIA, aggregates publically available data so architects can easily locate pre-bid projects and clients. It also combines networking tools, market analytics, and a fresh interface to help architects forge new connections and find prospective leads.

"Our far-reaching database of projects and market analysis represents a set of robust tools for AIA architects to grow their business and understand the competitive landscape,” said Laura Marlow the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at Reed Construction Data.

Upon entering the Reed Insight website, AIA members will find a sleek and simple dashboard that details the number of new, pre-design leads that have appeared since their last visit to the site. The dashboard also allows users to search by keyword, filter their results in 13 different ways, drill down into full profiles of individual projects, and export their saved results. In addition to specific projects, users can explore larger trends across more than 508,000 projects nationwide, such project owner statistics, aggregate project values, material demand figures, and more.

“I’m really excited about what Reed and the AIA have developed to support the practice of design. All useful information is in one place,” said Jay Silverman, AIA, President of AIA Atlanta and Senior Associate at Atlanta-based Lord Aeck Sargent. “The ability to see business trends, understand how products are being used in the market, plus the ability to get that information in just seconds in a format we can share with our clients is incredibly powerful.”
