A conversation with Tu-Anh Bui, Associates Award recipient and Amy Slattery, Young Architects Award recipient.
Amy Slattery is an Associate at BNIM. In recent years, Amy served as a Project Architect for the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Missouri, and the new state-of-the-art WIN-GEM building for the school of engineering at UCLA. Through her involvement with the AIA at local, regional and national levels, she has emerged as a national voice advocating for diversity and emerging professionals.
One of two recipients of the honor this year is Tu-Anh Bui, a designer at LHB Inc. in Minneapolis. Tu-Anh has aimed her focus at designing sustainable, affordable homes in Minnesota, with a career mission to help alleviate homelessness. In addition to an active involvement with AIA Minnesota, Tu-Anh has been a member of Architecture for Humanity's Minnesota chapter since 2005 and collaborated in the design of a community building in Sri Lanka, a school in Uganda, and homeless lockers in her hometown.
