We are pleased to have with us today, the 2011 recipient of the Whitney Young Award, Dr. Sharon E. Sutton, FAIA.

Dr. Sutton has been a professional musician, artist, and practicing architect. She is currently professor of architecture and urban design, adjunct professor of social work, and director of the Center for Environment Education and Design Studies at the University of Washington.

The Whitney M. Young Jr. Award recognizes Dr. Sutton’s pioneering efforts to advance youth and minority involvement in mainstream matters of the architecture profession and the AIA. It is the capstone in a series of awards she has received for public service.
